Since conflict is inevitable and emotions are a part of life, Dr. Lichtman has dedicated his career to assisting people to find ways to manage their conflicts in the most constructive way possible, especially during transitions when emotions run high. Divorce is one of those transitions. Dr. Lichtman's view is that if divorce is necessary, for couples interested in peaceful solutions there is no better way to confront the challenges than with the support and guidance of a multidisciplinary team of collaboratively trained professionals committed to focusing on the health and welfare of ALL members of the family.

With a background in healthcare as a Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist, and Psychoanalyst, he is used to multidisciplinary collaboration with other professionals, such as with nurses, social workers, and other physicians. He has broadened his ability to be helpful in his additional roles as a Divorce Coach, Family Business Consultant, Organizational Consultant, and Dispute Mediator. In line with that, he has had training in Interdisciplinary Collaborative Divorce, Divorce and Custody Mediation, and as a Parenting Coordinator. Having worked with students in university counseling centers, he has a special interest in attending to the emotional development and wellbeing of the next generation. This is especially true when helping people come to terms with the challenges of divorce when children are involved.

In addition, Dr. Lichtman collaborates with other professionals as a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the Association for Conflict Resolution. He also serves on several non-profit Boards, such as at the Center for Autism and the PLAN of PA. The latter provides care management and special needs trust services for families with adult children with mental health disabilities.

By way of further background, Dr. Lichtman is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and a member of the Faculty of the the Institute of the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia. He earned an MD from Case Western Reserve University, an MBA from St. Joseph’s University, a BS in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a Certificate in Family Business Advising from the Family Firm Institute. Prior to embarking on a career in Psychiatry, he was a member of his own family’s insurance brokerage firm.
