Comments

As a Board Certified family lawyer I have spent most of my career working to bring an atmosphere of calm and sanity to my clients involved in family law disputes. I believe that it is the responsibility of lawyers involved in divorce to defuse the hostility that threatens to destroy whatever hope the parties may have to co-parent their children or to put the divorce behind them and develop healthy relationships in the future. Collaborative Law holds out the hope for parties involved in family disputes that they can emerge from the process with their dignity and self-respect intact. I am a member of the Collaborative Law practice group that helped pass the first collaborative law statute in the United States, and have been conducting collaborative law trainings for the State Bar of Texas, The Collaborative Law Institute of Texas, Inc., and at South Texas College of Law since 2002. As a member of the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas, Inc., I am a co-author of that organization's Protocols of Practice for Collaborative Lawyers of Texas. As immediate Past President of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals I am dedicated to the transformation of the practice of law to Collaborative Practice.
