Profession(s)

Lawyer, Mediator

I have been practising family law in Aotearoa New Zealand for over 20 years. I am past Chair of the Collaborative Resolution NZ (the Collaborative Law Association of NZ) - a growing and enthusiastic group of Collaborative Professionals in New Zealand.

In 2002, I formed Family Law Results - a law firm that specialises in family law. More recently, I have joined with other like-minded professionals to form Lighthouse Legal. My work focuses on 'family formation' (surrogacy, assisted reproduction and adoption) and 'family transition' - assisting clients to find solutions outside of Court as they navigate a separation or divorce. From time to time I have also worked as a contract lecturer at AUT University in the area of dispute resolution and I have served as a Collaborative Practice trainer for Collaborative Resolution NZ. I am fortunate to be regularly asked to speak in New Zealand and abroad about Collaborative Practice and family law.

Aside from my legal practice, I am also busy serving as a Board member and President-Elect of IACP. I also serve on the New Zealand Law Society's Family Law Section Advisory Panel, working on submissions regarding legislative change.

Outside of the office, I am mum to a 14 year old son and a proud stepmother to my stepson, who is a PhD student, and my stepdaughter, a talented nurse.
