Collaborative Process: Fitting the Pieces Together: An Introductory Interdisciplinary Training & Advanced Training

Date and time:
November 8, 2018 - 10:00pm to November 10, 2018 - 10:00pm
Event type:
Introductory Collaborative Practice Training

A unique and entertaining training that runs like a Broadway show with an unusual kickoff that immediately captures the audience's attention followed by a lively mixture of both didactic and interactive demonstrations.   And, like any good show, the storyline is filled with twists and turns, simulating the events that often occur during a real Collaborative case and some that are just plain entertaining. This technique is used because it allows a more in - depth understanding of the Collaborative Process and keeps the attendees awake and, on their toes, not knowing what to expect! The case is presented as a “role play” from start to finish, demonstrating each step along the way with both the professionals and the clients including: the first contact with the attorney, the first contact with the MHP, how to work with the FP and the financial documents, pre-team meetings, team meetings, and debriefings. An " Interest Based Negotiation" is demonstrated and followed with an experiential activity for the attendees. The trainers are very interactive, often “stepping out of role" to answer questions or to clarify a point. The attendees are brought into each Team meeting by distributing an Agenda, Minutes and copies of any Agreements that were previously agreed to by the couple. The audience is swept up into the action at the onset, and remain attentive and engaged throughout.  By demonstrating each step in sequence, the attendees truly understand the entire process and often say that they “feel ready to begin their own case”.  The evaluations of the trainings average in excess of 4.8 on a 5-point scale.  There are additional "surprises” that keep the attendees' attention, but without giving up all of the "secrets", the idea here is to give you a sense of the training format. It has been very warmly received wherever presented.  The most common comment is that “I now understand how to do this”.

The Advanced Training topics are:  " Strike That!  What NOT To Say:  Effective Communication Using the MBTI", " Hope:  The Essence of Resolving Family Disputes" and "How to Avoid Gridlock:  Lessons Learned".
