Profession(s): Lawyer, Mediator

Admitted to PA Courts (all) in 1977. Admitted to U.S. Supreme Court 1988. Active litigation practice since admission. Since receiving collaborative and mediation training, I have steadily increased my practice in those areas, while de-emphasizing litigation. I have been active in my local practice group, the Collaborative Law Association of Southwestern Pennsylvania (CLASP) and have been privileged to serve as Editor of "The TREND," the newsletter for the Collaborative Law Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA). Google it!

Area(s) of Practice: Estate Law, Family Law, Mediation, Probate Law
License(s): Attorney at Law
Professional Activities: At times I have been active in the Butler County Pennsylvania Bar Association, chairing numerous committees and serving as it's President in 1997. I remain active on the local rules of court committee, typically acting as initial drafter of local family court rules. More recently I have devoted my professional free time to supporting the activities of CLASP, my collaborative practice group, as well as the Collaborative Law committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, on whose behalf I created and still edit a semi-annual newsletter, The TREND.
Education:
Undergraduate:
Allegheny College, BA History, 1972; Alden Scholar

Post-graduate:
Allegheny College, 12 credits Education
Comments: With many others, I found my professional 'triumphs' and 'failures' leaving me feeling empty and sometimes worse. When winning and losing feel the same, it's time to reassess how one defines those concepts. The broader definitions of collaborative law, and the ownership of the process by the clients feels much more satisfying.
