Debra helps divorcing couples, families and small businesses resolve conflict so they can be empowered and transcend conflict. Debra is a mediator and lawyer who focuses on mediation and collaborative conflict resolution. Debra holds a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law, a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Minnesota, and a B.A. in Social Work from St. Cloud State College. Debra is an experienced professional mediator and qualifies as Advanced Practitioner Member of the Academy of Professional Family Mediators. She began working as a mediator in 1988 after receiving training from Erickson Mediation Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Since then, she has taken on-going trainings in mediation and conflict resolution including participation at the Harvard Negotiation Insight Initiative. Prior to beginning her practice in mediation Debra was the Chief Financial Officer for a national real estate consulting firm and practiced as a CPA. In addition to over 30 years of mediation practice she has extensive experience representing clients as an attorney and as a CPA and working as an Administrative Hearing Officer for family cases in McLean County, Illinois.
Debra combines her unique skills and distinct background, including legal, financial analysis and relationship building skills, to work effectively with clients in a variety of settings in order to solve problems, create options and transcend conflict to advance endurable, constructive agreements.
