Profession(s)

Mental Health Professional, Mediator

Pamela Presler is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Erie, Pennsylvania with over 12 years of experience working in the mental health field. Since opening her private practice in 2012, Pamela has provided therapy to families, couples, and individual adults and children. With specialized training in grief, adolescent challenges, couples counseling and parenting issues, she offers an extensive treatment background.

Pamela’s approach to supporting her clients is grounded in drawing upon individual strengths to develop healthy coping and communication skills. In addition, she encourages them to build a system of natural self-care resources. Her foundation is working within various agencies in Central Ohio, including Rosemont Dual Diagnosis Center, Licking County Department of Family Services and the Licking County Department of Alcohol Prevention Program. This inspired her to focus her current practice on helping families who experience conflict to create transformative changes.

In 2012, Pamela pursued training in alternative dispute resolution processes. She became trained in Collaborative Practice in the roles of Coach and Child Specialist. In addition, she expanded her expertise to include resolving high conflict court cases as a court ordered co-parent counselor. Pamela then went on to become a Family Mediator and has embraced the philosophical approach of helping empower families to create their own sustainable outcomes. This approach limits the need for court intervention with families.

Her expertise in working with children and families experiencing conflict is recognized by her colleagues and the Erie County Court system. Pamela has presented to various groups of professionals. Trainings include “The Role of the Child Specialist on a Collaborative Team", “Grieving Parents” and “Emotional Intelligence”. She has also mentored other mental health professionals pursuing Collaborative Practice.

Pamela earned Bachelors of Science degrees in both Psychology and Business Administration from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio. She then went on to pursue a Master of Clinical Social Work degree from the Ohio State University. Pamela’s professional affiliations include the National Association of Social Workers, International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and the Collaborative Professionals of Northwestern Pennsylvania for which she has served on the governing board as Recording Secretary since 2013.
