Virginia Collaborative Professionals Conference and Boot Camp

This intermediate level training offers a day of working in "teams" on a simulated case with a hypothetical couple.
Each module of the day will present a specific set of challenges for professionals to navigate together in a simulated Collaborative meeting, while working with the "couple" at their table. Boot Camp also focuses on helping Attorneys, Financial Specialists, and Mental Health Professionals grow more comfortable giving and receiving feedback about their own team work so that we all expand our capacity to communicate effectively with our peers as well as with our clients - even when times get tough. Participants will have plenty of time to discuss their learning "take-aways" between modules and then have the opportunity for "do-overs" and trying out new skills.
For those attendees who participated in the Collaborative Boot Camps of 2008 and 2010, you will recall that Boot Camp provides for all of the members on the Collaborative team a magical mixture of intense skill building, the opportunity to work with new colleagues and deepen relationships with those we already know, and an experience that is stimulating and fun. Mental health professionals lead the team on helping parents create their custody agreements and parenting plans. They also facilitate communication and help defuse emotional responses during team meetings to help keep the process efficient and effective. Presenters:  Lisa Herrick and Barbara Burr

Focusing on the IACP efforts to grow Collaborative Practice around the world, and how those efforts effect Collaborative Practice here in the U.S. Also, a discussion about the importance of the connection and exchange of information between communities, and how that can deeply effect our ongoing work.
