April 21, 2022, is United Nations World Creativity & Innovation Day.

How to Celebrate - World Creativity & Innovation Week (wciw.org)

This year's theme is COLLABORATION.

I thought it would be an auspicious date and time for our next Coming Home Gathering.  We are setting the time for 10:00 a.m. PDT and we will meet for up to two hours, as needed for us to speak, celebrate, dream, and ponder.  To assist with the conversation I have attached a list of questions put together by Stephanie Dobson from Alberta, Canada, that set forth some inspiration for dialogue.

Creativity and Innovation: A Vital Part of Collaborative Divorce

1.      Can you define what creativity and innovation means to you?        Goal: To highlight how everyone has a unique conception and relation to creativity and innovation

2.      How do you see creativity and innovation being a vital part of the Collaborative Divorce Process?  Goal: To show that there is a direct connection between creativity, innovation, and the Collaborative Divorce Process.

3.      If Collaborative Divorce Practice was the norm, and children saw this approach being used in their own family, how would that impact society and promote United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16: Peace, Justice, & Strong Institutions?
Definition of UN SDG #16: promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels.

Consider: Divorce is the first major conflict most children witness. If this conflict is handled compassionately and collaboratively, their view of handling conflict would be much improved and our culture would evolve as a result.

4.      In relation to creativity, how do you see Collaborative Divorce as different than the litigation model?   Goal: experiential-based questions:
What was a time where you needed to be creative and/or innovative during a Collaborative session/when helping families find peace?
Can you share a time when families and/or colleagues have benefited from our ability to be creative and innovative?

5.      What innovations would you like to see in the Collaborative Divorce Process/Field?
Goal: to cover the innovative aspect of Collaborative Practice, and finish the interview with forward-thinking
