February 22, 2022 - 9:00am to March 3, 2022 - 1:00pm

In collaborative practice, the prevailing goal is to assist clients and their families transition to their new normal thoughtfully and peacefully. A collaborative divorce process is a team approach that addresses the financial, emotional, logistical, and legal aspects that are inevitably part of the process.

In addition to the benefits for clients, collaborative practice offers professionals the opportunity to work in a healthier environment focused on creating solutions rather than casting blame. The community provided by collaborative practice groups helps members as they grow into their own paradigm shift.

This training will include:

  • The values and skills required in the collaborative divorce process including how to work with an interdisciplinary team
  • The roles of each member of a team such as attorneys and neutral professionals including family professionals, financial professionals and child specialists
  • Ethical considerations
  • Strategies for working through impasse
  • Successful examples
Location:

This training will be held on zoom. The dates are February 22, 24 and March 1, 3 from 10:00am to 2:00pm CST

Kristen Boldt is a collaborative attorney and mediator in Des Moines, IA. Her firm, Harmony Law PLLC, focuses on collaborative law, mediation and conscious contracting. The common thread in her cases is that there is a relationship to be maintained past the current situation. She currently chairs the Leadership Team for Iowa Collaborative Divorce and on the Training & Education and the Standards & Ethics committees for the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Harmony in music is the weaving together of different notes and tones into something more than they can be on their own. Music also teaches us that a little dissonance in the chord does not destroy the piece, it is the path we need to follow to get to the resolution. We see this in collaborative cases as well. Sometimes we need to work through the dissonance to get to resolution but in the end, we build a harmony that honors the contribution of each person.
