The Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum has partnered with the IACP to provide a comprehensive two-day training seminar that will help legal, mental health and financial professionals gain a strong foundation in Collaborative Practice. Taught by a highly experienced interdisciplinary team, the training focuses on the skill sets of each profession and the integration of those skills in the process. Participants will be introduced to the theories, practices, and skills needed to begin a Collaborative practice. This program will also be helpful to those who wish to refresh their initial Collaborative training experience and deepen their understanding, while networking with other colleagues in the Collaborative community

Trainers: 

Mariette Geldenhuys, Ithaca Area Collaborative Law Professionals, New York As Founder and Past President of the Ithaca Area Collaborative Law Professionals (IACLP), Mariette brought Collaborative Law to the Ithaca community in 2003 and has actively promoted its growth and expansion. She designed public education presentations and instituted a mentoring program for newly admitted attorneys for the IACLP. Mariette has many years’ experience as a Mediator and completed the intensive 40-hour mediation training at the Center for Understanding in Conflict in May 2011. She has presented Collaborative Practice training (both basic and advanced training) since 2006 in New York, New York, Ithaca, New York and Anchorage, Alaska. She has been a workshop coordinator and presenter at the Annual Forum of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals Forum each year from 2005-2010. She was also a presenter at a symposium on “No Borders, No Barriers: Legal issues for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Clients and their families in the United States and Canada” in Niagara Falls, Canada, in June 2006 and about Collaborative Law at the Family Law Conference in Cape Town, South Africa in 2009.
Barbara E. Kelly, Ph.D. LLC, Florida Dr. Kelly is a licensed psychologist and certified family mediator in private practice in Maitland, Florida. She earned her Ph.D. in counseling psychology in 1997 from the University of Miami and completed her training as a family mediator in 2001. Dr. Kelly provides clinical and forensic psychological services for children, adolescents and adults including Collaborative Family Practice, Psychotherapy, Parenting Coordination, Family Mediation, Expert Testimony, Psychological Evaluations and Litigation Consultation. Her areas of specialty include child development, child abuse, mood disorders, acute stress, marital/relationship issues, divorce and co-parenting. Dr. Kelly is trained in the interdisciplinary model of collaborative family law and functions as a neutral coach in collaborative cases. Dr. Kelly is currently a board member for the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP) and for the Collaborative Family Law Group of Central Florida. She is a past-president of the Central Chapter of the Florida Psychological Association. Her professional memberships include the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), and the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators. She is an associate member of the American Bar Association Family Law Section and of the Florida Bar Association Family Law Section. She is a volunteer guardian ad litem with the Seminole County Guardian Ad Litem program and provides training for volunteer guardians.
John Twitchell, CDFA, Financial Settlement Solutions, LLC, Washington John has a Masters in Economics and has been in the investment management and financial analyst business for over 30 years. He has specialized in divorce financial analysis for the last 19 years and is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst.
