As we turn the page to a new year, the IACP board and staff will be gathering (virtually) for our annual strategic planning retreat. We are excited to be looking ahead to a world re-opening this year.

We are bringing this energy to our planning. Our growing team will be working hard to deliver even more to our members to support your work. We’ve got exciting new seminars planned, more online introductory trainings, a toolkit for building your practice, and a few other surprises we’ll be rolling out soon.

Meanwhile, an eager new crop of professionals is starting our online introductory training on Thursday. And our seminars with Woody Mosten are filling up with Collaborative professionals preparing to enlarge their practices and then train others to do the same.

January is also a time when divorces peak. Many families are looking for help with this transition, and they need professionals like you more than ever. This hit home for me recently when a close friend turned to me on behalf of her beloved cousin.

His marriage was falling apart at a young age under the stresses of a pandemic and a struggling economy. It was such a relief to be able to refer her to a trusted Collaborative professional in her town, someone I knew would help this family with the utmost care.

It left me more grateful than ever for all the work that you, and we, are doing to help families.

IACP Board Expressions of Interest

We've begun accepting applications for IACP Board service!

Potential Board members must have:

  • Maintained IACP membership for at least one year,
  • Served on at least
    one IACP committee prior to consideration for Board service; and
  • Attended at least one Networking and
    Educational Forum.

Board terms run for three years, and will begin immediately after the 2021 IACP Forum in October.

Applications and recommendation letters must be received by February 28, 2021, in order to be considered.

Call For Collaborative Review Submissions

The spring 2021 issue of the Collaborative Review will be a special edition focusing on matters of equity, inclusion, diversity and access in the Collaborative community.

We encourage authors from a wide range of backgrounds to submit articles interpreting this theme from many perspectives.

The Collaborative Review is the official IACP publication. 

It is published and delivered electronically on a semi-annual basis.
 
Building A Satisfying Collaborative Practice
 

In a two-day workshop, provided in partnership with Forrest "Woody" Mosten, you will learn a practical model for implementing client-centered Collaborative strategies into your profession.

You will also learn new ways to represent clients while staying out of court and explore the personal and ethical dimensions of Collaborative problem-solving. 


When: February 18th & 19th, 2021, from noon-3p (PST)

Location: This course is being offered online in Zoom format. 

Registration: $250 for active IACP Members, $350 for non-members.

Thanks to our partnership with Woody, this course has been approved for six hours of MCLE credit and family law specialization credit in California, and for six hours of CEU credit for California therapists and social workers.

Training for Trainers: Build Your Practice
 

This course is available only to those who have completed "Building a Satisfying Collaborative Practice" either through a partnership with IACP or previously through Forrest "Woody" Mosten or one of his approved trainers. You will learn to present the "Building A Satisfying Collaborative Practice" training to new audiences.

Topics covered will include:

•Training strategies for adult learning

•Developing overall course learning objective and individual objectives for each model

•Marketing and operating a successful training


When: Tues. March 2- Fri. March 5, 2021, noon-3p (PST)

Registration: $595 for IACP Members and $695 for others. Spaces are limited.

The IACP team is growing!

Just a few weeks ago, we officially welcomed our newest team member, Andrea Gorrill.  

Some of you have already had the pleasure of meeting Andrea while she covered Member Services during Dolores Puppione's parental leave.

Andrea has accepted the position of Professional Education Program Assistant and will be helping build out our educational offerings.

Andrea has extensive experience with client satisfaction and training. Originally from California, Andrea currently calls Arizona home, where she enjoys spending time with her husband and two canine companions.

Soren Richard Puppione was born a week early on Nov 6, weighing 8lbs 14oz and measuring 21.5 inches long.

His mom (Dolores Puppione, IACP's Membership Coordinator) says Soren loves to smile and engage with his big sister Ariya who is three.

Eight years ago, I met a Collaborative Divorce Group. Unfortunately for me, it was two weeks after my divorce was finalized. I may not have learned about Collaborative law in time for my own needs but working with that group still made a lasting impact on my life.
