Join members from IACP’s Standards and Ethics committee as they present scenarios with challenging ethical issues found in Collaborative practice which can be answered by looking to the “playbook”, the Ethical Standards.  Be prepared to actively participate in this hour-long discussion to help solve the issues presented.

Stephanie Dobson B.A., J.D.

As sole proprietor of Henka Divorce Law & Mediation, Stephanie Dobson is a caring, results-focused, and experienced Collaborative Divorce Lawyer and Mediator who helps growth-minded, coachable parents navigate a family separation while they connect with and support their children, empowering them to make a plan to write a new family story based on developing lifelong, peaceful, positive and thriving relationships. She has welcomed technology into her practice, operating a paperless office and using video-conferencing technology to reach families both locally in Lloydminster, as well as families across Alberta and Saskatchewan, Canada.

As an educator, Stephanie is the founder of Up A Notch Learning Inc., an e-learning platform to empower separating and divorcing families with a collection of free resources and affordable course content to help families make informed decisions so they can thrive.

Stephanie is an active community volunteer and has served on many Boards of Directors, presently being the Chair of the Alberta Law Foundation, Vice-Chair of the Legal Education Society of Alberta, and Chair of the Battlefords Bar Association.

Bonnie M. Brown

Ms. Brown received her J.D. from University of Louisville in 1978 and has been in the private practice of law concentrating in Family Law for over 40 years. She was trained in Family Law Mediation by Just Solutions in 2011 and in General Civil Mediation by the Kentucky Bar Association in 2019. She has over 75 hours in collaborative divorce training over nearly two decades as both student and presenter. Ms. Brown is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell, received the Revell Family Law Practitioner Award in 2011, and the Bruce K. Davis Bar Service Award in 2016. She has written and presented on numerous family law subjects including Child Relocation, Hague Convention on Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, Asset Location, Custody/Parenting Arrangements, Domestic Violence, Internationalization of Family Law, and Legal Ethics. Her memberships include Louisville Bar Association where she served as Family Law Section Chair, 1985, 1986; Kentucky Bar Association where she served as Family Law Section Chair 1996-1997 and ADR Section Chair 2020-2022; and American Bar Association Family Law and International Law Sections. She is also a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, where she serves on the Collaborative Law Committee and having served as Interdisciplinary Committee Chair 2008-2010; International Academy of Family Lawyers; International Academy of Collaborative Professionals where she serves on the Standards and Ethics Committee; and the Kentucky Collaborative Family Network, where she served as coordinator 2015-2016. 

Edward Sachs CPA, ACP

Edward Sachs is a Certified Public Accountant and Accredited Collaborative Professional. After 25 years of representing spouses in litigated divorces, in 2016, Mr. Sachs opened his own accounting practice dedicated to the Collaborative Process and other alternatives to litigation in settling financial issues in divorce and business. Ed is a Past President of the Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals (FACP) and is a member of three practice groups in Miami-Dade, Broward and South Palm Beach counties. He currently serves as the President of My Collaborative Team, the not-for-profit publisher of the #1 distributed weekly Collaborative Family Law Newsletter in North America. Mr. Sachs has trained countless professionals throughout Florida in the Collaborative Process and has taught Collaborative Ethical Standards for the past three years at the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals Annual Forum. He currently serves as Co-chair of the Credentialing Committee of FACP.
