STRATEGIES WHEN WORKING WITH A "WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING"

IACP is pleased to present: 2023 Seminar Series: STRATEGIES WHEN WORKING WITH A "WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING", presented by Lana M. Stern, Ph.D., Marta Alfonso, CPA, JD and Robert J. Merlin, Attorney.

A "Paradigm Shift" is a fundamental change to our underlying belief system. It affects how we approach a situation or act upon our assumptions about an issue. These changes allow us to move forward in the Collaborative Process and enable the professionals and their clients to successfully engage in interest-based negotiations rather than positional negotiations. This paradigm shift, from litigation to Collaborative and therapeutic to facilitative, is difficult to master and must ultimately become part of one's thinking and behavior. It is understandable that professionals, who have learned specific skills and implemented them in their various practices, now must unlearn what they had been doing throughout their professional careers. We have all experienced the professional who has not yet made the "Paradigm Shift". This webinar will identify behaviors and explore and discuss the underlying reasons that may prevent them from making the shift. We will present strategies to address those behaviors and hopefully help the Wolf make the paradigm shift.  Objectives are as follows:

  • Objective 1: Describe collaborative and non-collaborative behaviors
  • Objective 2: Identify the underlying reasons preventing Collaborative professionals from making the paradigm shift
  • Objective 3: Explain the importance of and demonstrate a debrief of the professionals
  • Objective 4: Provide tools to the attendees to help them deal with a Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
