Summary:
Nesting, or “birdnesting,” as it's sometimes known, refers to a transitional or temporary arrangement where parents alternate time in the family home and take turns being “on duty” with their children. Their children stay in the home full time, which gives them more time to adapt to changes in the family.
Successful nesting requires parents who can prioritize their children over their emotions during a life crisis.
Clients going through a Collaborative Divorce are great candidates for nesting because they usually want to minimize conflict and protect their kids.
Parents who have been or want to be actively involved in parenting can create a structured, detailed nesting agreement tailored to the needs of their particular family and circumstances.
