I have practiced family law since my admission to the State Bar of California in June 1977. I became a Certified Family Law Specialist in 1983, have been a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers since 1984, and volunteered my time for eight years to the State Bar of California Family Law Section Executive Committee, serving as Chair and as liaison to the California legislature. I have served a three-year term on the Family Law Advisory Commission of the State Bar of California, and am the Chair of the Commission for 2007-2008. Extensive training in mediation in the 1980's, and more recent training in collaborative practice, have led me to a shift of my practice to exclusively collaborative and mediation matters. I have been involved in the formation of the Sonoma County Bar Association Family Law Section, the leadership of the Sonoma County Bar Association Collaborative Law Section, and the formation and leadership (elected Vice President in 2004 and Secretary in 2006) of the Collaborative Council of the Redwood Empire, an interdisciplinary association of collaborative professionals which include the legal areas of family law, civil law, and probate law. In 2006 I was named one of the top 50 female lawyers in Northern California by San Francisco Magazine, and was also included in each annual edition of Best Lawyers in America since 2006.

| General Comments |
Thirty years ago, when I began my practice, family law looked very different from how it looks today. In the early 80's, the mediation movement took root among Sonoma County divorce lawyers, well ahead of its acceptance in other parts of the country.
Collaborative practice is yet another significant progression in the legal culture. Sonoma County family lawyers, civil lawyers, probate lawyers and other collaborative colleagues, are in the forefront of a shift in how lawyers, therapists, financial and other professionals, provide support and advocacy for spouses, partners, parents and children, neighbors, employers and employees in resolving conflicts and restructuring their ongoing relationships.
I have been part of these developments, since 1977. I am committed to the collaborative process, and encourage families, businesses, and other legal consumers to consider and choose collaborative dispute resolution.
