Douglas O Lipp, PhD
(Psychologist/Mental Health Professional)
|
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in providing services for children, adolescents, parents and families for over 30 years, with extensive experience working with adults and children going through separation and divorce. Even when divorcing spouses have the best of intentions to end their marriage amicably, they can be challenged by feelings of anxiety, sadness, guilt, blaming, stress and fear about the future and the unknown. If the marriage includes children, they are at risk to suffer the most and be least able to understand and express their feelings. In the midst of a divorce, even the most well-meaning parent can lose sight of the needs of the children, and communication with and about them may be difficult if not impossible. However, it doesn't have to be this way. As a Child Specialist and a Divorce Coach, I am deeply committed to listening to and understanding the concerns of adults and children alike. I strive to provide a safe, supportive setting in which all parties can communicate honestly and respectfully, have their needs and issues heard, engage in mutual problem-solving, experience hope and begin to create their respective futures. Through the Collaborative Process, all parties can work through a divorce in a less painful, more emotionally healthy manner, move forward in establishing separate households and build a respectful, business-like co-parenting relationship that is based on an understanding of and commitment to working in the best interests of the children.

| As a Child Specialist, I help to understand and 'give voice' to the youngster's issues, needs and wishes. As a Divorce Coach, I work to understand and effectively resolve the variety of challenges to communication, emotional stability and positive mutual problem-solving that can often derail the divorce process. In my private practice I also specialize in consultation, assessment and the treatment of children, adolescents and adults with special needs such as ADHD and learning difficulties, and poor self-esteem, anxiety and depression. |
