As a seasoned clinical social worker, I have worked with couples, families, and children in a variety of settings for over 30 years. I believe that every crisis or problem, however painful, also provides an opportunity for healing and growth. I am involved in Collaborative Divorce because it offers couples a way to end their marital relationship through a non-adversarial process and avoid going to court. This process greatly increases the likelihood that the outcome will be better for all family members.

| General Comments |
In the Collaborative Divorce process, I work as part of an interdisciplinary team of mental health professionals, attorneys, and financial experts. My extensive background working with families and children qualifies me to serve either as a Divorce Coach or as a Child Specialist on the team. As a Divorce Coach, I work with parents to decide on goals that address their own individual needs and the needs of their children. I help parents develop more positive communication, work through the inevitable emotional difficulties of the separation and divorce process, and create a mutually acceptable parenting plan for their children. As a Child Specialist, I serve as an advocate for the child, assessing each child's needs and then communicating those needs to the parents to assist them in developing a parenting plan that will be best for all family members.
I am involved in the Collaborative Divorce community as a member of CPNV (Collaborative Professionals of Northern Virginia) and DCACP (DC Academy of Collaborative Professionals) as well as being professionally connected with many Maryland collaborative attorneys.
I find that the Collaborative model is a very supportive and effective way to help families through the challenging process of separation and divorce. The team approach provides an opportunity for all voices, including those of the children, to be heard and allows couples to achieve a respectful resolution to their marital difficulties. |
