  • Albert Bonin has limited his practice to helping client’s resolve family law issues for almost three decades. He handles the more difficult and complex cases involving property, custody, parenting time, support and matters across state and international borders.
  • Not only is he recognized as a highly skilled litigator, he is also well known for resolving conflicts that arise through mediation, negotiation and the collaborative process.
  • Mr. Bonin has been included for over two decades in the treatise, The Best Lawyers in America, and is listed annually in The Washington Post Magazine as one of the Metropolitan D.C.’s best family law attorneys. He has been selected since 2007 as one of the Ten Leaders in Matrimonial and Divorce Law in Northern Virginia.

He is a fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Layers for which he served as a chapter President of this prestigious organization.     Current appointments include: Vice Chair of the Fairfax Bar Association Circuit Court Committee (he received the “2009 Chair Award” for outstanding service), Membership Chair and Executive Council member of the Family Law Section of the Virginia Bar Association, Outreach Chair and member of the Executive Council of the Virginia Association of Collaborative Professionals, Board Member of the Fairfax Law Foundation and lifetime member of the Colorado Bar Foundation.

    Mr. Bonin is a member of the Virginia, Fairfax, Prince William, District of Columbia and Colorado Bar Associations, as well as the Collaborative Professionals of Northern Virginia.

    While practicing in Colorado, Mr. Bonin was the recipient of the Outstanding Professional of the Year Award in 1997 and for an unprecedented second time in 2001. He was listed as one of Denver’s top lawyers by 5280 magazine. He is also a former Chair of the Supreme Court Committee on Family Law Ethics and Advocacy.

    He was coauthor of the two-volume manual by Lexis Law Publications, Domestic Relations Forms and Practice. Mr. Bonin also served for almost two decades on the Editorial Board of Divorce Litigation, a national monthly publication of the National Legal Research Group, Inc. He was cofounder and former director of the National Center for Legal Education and has lectured nationally and internationally on all aspects of family law.

    Mr. Bonin limits the number of cases he accepts in order to provide service that exceeds the client’s expectations. He understands that an attorney may have many clients, but a client only has one attorney.
